These recordings are part of a project done with Eclipse of the Bowling Green Radio News Organization at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). We're calling it "Rap Sheet" because the original idea was to simply present items from the BGSU Police Blotter. BGSU's student-run newspaper, The BG News (www.BGNews.com) does a similar printed piece, and it's consistently among their top stories. We have since expanded the series to include turntablism—especially samples and effects from The Vinyl Haven (our record archive). So we're now covering the musical meanings of "rap" and "sheet" as well. We've also expanded the content to include "the weird of the news" from around the world. Eclipse and Thanatos write the scripts (which remain focused on the Blotter kindly given to us by the BGSU Police) and DJ What the Bleep "produces" the show by sequencing (and processing) the sounds. The pieces presented here are live recordings from the show which airs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 5pm and 6pm. It is broadcast on WBGU (88.1fm, www.WBGUfm.com) and simulcast on WFAL (1610am, www.WFALradio.com, Cable Channel 13/15/17).
